Can’t Always Get What You Want…..

We knew it had to be coming….. And that mud from the Park has finally shown. With the strength of the weather systems we were faced with yesterday, we may have a couple days of this. Today’s photo is from the Flying Pig Adventure Company’s back deck overlooking the river right in Gardiner. The Upper Yellowstone web cam is picking this up as well. So the mud is heading to the Yankee Jim canyon area here pretty quick. Anglers can still likely fish from around here in Emigrant and downstream (North) for today. However, by tomorrow this mud will be in Livingston. Folks will be looking to head East to stay ahead.

We’ll keep an update on when we see the backside of the mud and let you all know!

Fishing has been steadily picking up before this round of sludge was upon us. Reports yesterday during the cloudy and wet day we had for most of the day were quite good. Solid dry fly bite with a variety of topwater fly selections. MVF’s (Most Valuable Flies) have been:

Dropper action has been a bit hit or miss. There are days when it’s been a necessity and others where the dry fly action has been all you need. For those going under:
