Hot Fly: Tungsten Zebra Midge
This is an all-time favorite all over the West, not just here in Montana.  During the winter and early spring months, midges make up a huge portion of a trout's diet.  This little gem is a real go-to pattern from freestones to spring creeks as it emulates midge pupa, small mayfly or even possibly caddis larvae.  Also available in a variety of colors (insert your choice here), the tungsten zebra should be in your box!
