Simms G3 Guide Boots

After a year and a half in development, Simms has unveiled its newest boot, the G3 Guide Boot. Some of the notable features include: a wider opening for ease of entry, waterproof leather upper for reduced shrinkage, neoprene liner for lower friction and water absorption, and a direct-attached midsole – which creates a stronger bond and reduces spaces where unwanted organisms such as the New Zealand mud snail can find a place to hide. The G3 also boasts the lightest weight of any traditional boot in Simms’ line of wading footwear.
Josh Fairchilds, a relatively new addition to Simms, was instrumental in the development of the G3 Boot. Josh joined the Simms team from Five Ten, a leading outdoor footwear manufacturer, were he served as Product Development Manager for Footwear. With his help Simms has produced a very well designed and practical piece of footwear that will improve the fishing experience.
I had a chance to test these boots on a recent day of fishing on the Big Hole River. The wide opening and improved lacing system made putting on these boots a snap, and the molded toe and heel counters made the fit very comfortable. With minimal exposed stitching and a heavy duty rubberized rand that extends up the sides of the boot, these boots should provide years of service with minimal wear.
The real test of these boots came when I entered the water and started working a series of long runs. They provided plenty of stability and their lightweight design made getting from one run to the next a pleasure. Winter fishing conditions mean that an ill fitting boot will result in cold feet fairly quickly. The G3s’ molded toe and heel counters this, by providing a secure, non-binding fit — cold feet were not an issue.
These boots come with a felt sole ($179.95) or a studded felt sole ($199.95); well worth it for a pair of boots that fit and perform as well as these do. Available in sizes: 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14. Call or email us today, we'll be happy to help you with questions or purchasing the best new wading boot on the market.
