Welcome to the R.L. Winston Boron II-MX fly rod! Winston introduced the use of boron into fly rod manufacturing more than 10years back. After years of continual testing and research they have refined the use and discovered Boron II which translated to new lay-up, new resins and new rods. With the introduction of the Winston Boron II several years back, R. L. Winston Fly Rod entered a new era of fly rod design consisting faster action fly rods that are light weight, generate very fast line speeds and have a quick loading tip. The Boron II-MX fly fishing rod series carries all these traits but now adds the increased strength to cast heavy sinking lines and larger flies. The 4,5,and 6 weights are slightly stiffer and faster than their Boron IIx counterparts. The 7-12 weights are true "cannons" that can handle sinking lines, big flies and adverse wind conditions. As with all “green” Winston rods, the Boron II MX's are as much a pleasure to behold, as they are to cast. The Boron II-MX fly fishing rods are based on the beautifully appointed Winston green blanks, with hand written serial numbers and rod identification. The serial number is written on each of the 4 sections of the rod and the nickel silver winding check finishes the Cigar and Full Wells premium cork handles. The nickel anodized aluminum reel seat is featherweight, but strong enough to handle any amount of torque you apply. The Boron II-MX rods are available in 4 through 12 weights (sorry you 11 weight lovers, you won’t find one here)

The 4, 5, and 6 weight rods come standard with a Cigar handle
The 9'6" 5 weight through 9' 10 weight rods feature the Full-Wells grip with cork fighting butt
The 12 weight features a 12" grip and 2 1/2" cork fighting butt
The reel seat on all rods is feather light nickel anodized aluminum
