Angler's West offers both float and walk/wade trips. You can fish for just a few hours or as long as a week. We utilize Mackenzie style drift boats and specially outfitted rafts to provide clients with a stable and comfortable river trip. Walk & Wade Day Trips

A variety of walk fishing locations are available from either the flyshop in Emigrant or our Bozeman based guide services. We offer guided trips for fisherpeople of all skill levels on these waters. Our most easily accessed rivers are the Gallatin and the Yellowstone. The Gallatin is a small to medium sized river flowing north from Yellowstone National Park through the Gallatin Canyon. Along its course, there is ample opportunity for the flyfisherman to ply his/her abilities on the feisty bows found throughout this fun fishery. The Yellowstone, flowing out of Yellowstone National Park on the Park's most northern edge, is a much bigger river in stature. Often thought of more in terms of float fishing because of the lack of good publicly accessed wade fishing locations, the Yellowstone is our classic freestone river chock full of Yellowstone Cutthroats, Rainbows, Browns and the ever present Mountain Whitefish. Angler's West does have several access points that are very productive wade fishing locations. We'd be happy to take you there. We also offer clients the opportunity to experience several private stretches of fantastic water both in the Gallatin and Paradise Valleys. These properties harbor spring creeks and small freestone rivers that range from super technical to near brainless. The rod fees associated give the angler semi to fully exclusive access to these properties depending upon which location we fish and how many rods are allowed on the property. Angler's West has exclusive access to several ranches just for our clients fishing pleasure! Driftboat Day Trips

drifter A day spent drifting down one of many famous rivers really is the epitomy of western Montana fly fishing. Imagine yourself comfortably situated in the bow of the driftboat, your guide is enthusiastically rowing his craft maintaining a steady cadence upon the oars. You find yourself expertly positioned justs off the bank's prime holding water. The guide says, "See that downed Cottonwood? That's it, good, put a nice upstream mend on that, there, keep up on your slack, now give that dryfly a little twitch, YEP! HIT 'EM! Right On! Nice Fish! and before you know it that "nice fish" is tearing off fly line while it makes a beeline for the Montana state border. This is what driftboat fishing is all about. No having to slog through the briars to get to the river's edge. No mucking around with wading into position. No hanging up in the bushes behind you once you get setup and then having to slog back to said bush only to turn around and find you spooked the entire pool.
