| Madison River report |
Lower River: River color due to winds stirring things up on Ennis Lake has settled down. However, water levels were pushed up just a bit yesterday. This may have put the fish off just a bit. A day or so of stable flows will bring things back around. Plenty of midge and baetis activity on the less windy days. Baetis are thick on the cloudy days. Fish aren't always on them, though. So, think outside the obvious and tinker with some funk to get the job done..
Bear Trap: same as Lower river. Plenty of fishing action here. Water is good & clear.
Upper River: Closed from below Quake Lake to McAtee Bridge as well as from Ennis Bridge to the Lake right now. Ennis town ramp is now usable!! Fishing up here has been pretty darn good. More and more folks showing up however has the fish a bit more reluctant than the past several weeks. Fish are right where they are supposed to be. Same bugs as on Lower river working up here.
Hatches: Cloudy days you'll see midges as well as some Baetis( sizes 18/20).
