Time for Bugs!

The Lamar and Soda Butte have leveled off the last few days and we should start to see some better clarity to our river. Even now you will be able to catch fish. The Caddis have been thickest near the Carters Bridge and Pine Creek access sites. The bugs may taper off a little with the cooler weather but you can still get fish to eat the dry flies. The nymphing game has been pretty productive with Caddis pupa, March Brown nymphs, Stonefly nymphs and Baetis. Small streamers have also been working. Pretty much pick your favorite way to fish and you should have some success! The wind out of the north has been a little bit of a hassle but if you can find some protection from it, fish will be looking for bugs in the foam lines and slower moving water. Weather outlook is calling for more of the same cooler, wet weather, warming up a bit by the end of the week. Don’t expect the wind to die down until after the weekend though.
