Starting to see the rivers and creeks in the Northeast Corner turn on as of recently. Several of our guides have been in the Park and finding some fun fishing. Still lots of water, but this corner of the Park is finally coming into its own and will be a great option for the rest of the summer! Good stonefly activity has been found on the Gardner, Yellowstone, and just kicking in on the Lamar. PMDs and some Green drakes are the game on Slough creek as well as the Lamar. Fish have been looking up more and more as the days go on and the water continues to drop. Dry/Dropper combos have been a welcome way to go. Nice to not have to see an indicator… Patterns to throw: Chubbies in gold, olive, brown, and purple sizes 8-12, Dornan Water Walker in salmonfly size 8 or golden in size 8-12, Henry’s Fork Stone size 8, Turck’s Tarantula in natural, yellow, as well as red size 10-12, Amy’s Ant size 10, PMX Peacock 8-12, Lawson’s Green Paradrake 10-12, CDC Green Paradrake, Furimsky’s Ext Body Green Drake, PMD Sparkle Dun size 14-16, Kinsey Hi-viz PMD parachute 14-16, CDC PMD Transitional Dun, Parachute Adams and Parachute Purple Hazes sizes 12-16. Nymphs to be considered and used as a dropper behind the dry: FB Pheasant Tail size 12-18, Tung soft hackle PT size 14-18, Copper John copper, black size 12-16, BH Prince 12-16, Tactical Orange Tag 12-14, BH rubberleg Hare’s Ear 12-16, Lil Spankers in PT and light olive 12-16. If you find that you aren’t getting fish to respond on the dry fly game, you could go underneath to the “wet side”. Running a Pat’s rubberleg stonefly nymph in brown, coffee, olive size 8-12, Black or Olive and Black wooly buggers, Black Sculpzilla size 8, and then use one of the other nymphs previously mentioned behind coupled with a indicator and you should be good.
