Fishing Report

Paradise Valley Fishing Report, May 6th, 2020

It seems that runoff is slowly starting to form here in Paradise Valley. That being said, don’t feel like all hope is lost. Earlier in the week we feared that we may have lost the opportunity to fish our beloved Mother’s Day Caddis hatch but the river has slowly begun to drop in flows and rise in visibility. Looking at the forecast, we have below freezing temps in Yellowstone National Park as well as cool night time temperatures here in the valley. Clarity is currently +/- 12 inches which is much more than we had yesterday. We also are beginning […]

Yellowstone River Report, October 22nd 2019

The river is certainly beginning to slow but that does not mean that there isn’t good fishing to be had! Conditions have been the biggest factor regarding quality of fishing. We are beginning to heavily rely on the BWO hatch for any dry fly fishing to be had on the river. Sunny and windy days certainly have put a damper on that. Too much wind will keep the baetis off of the water and the sun won’t do us any good either. Instead, look for calm, overcast days that will allow the bugs to come out and get caught in […]

There is snow and cold weather in the forecast. Expect Wednesday to drop 3-4 inches of snow with temperatures well below freezing. We are also expecting high winds through Thursday evening. In regards to the fishing, there is still good windows of dry fly fishing in the afternoons. We tend to have a couple good hours of BWO fishing once things warm up and bugs start coming off. Guides have […]

Yellowstone River Fishing Report September 29th, 2019

Yellowstone River Fishing Report September 19th, 2019 Don’t let the cold temperatures discourage you! The Yellowstone is still in great shape and there are windows of great fishing. With a fresh blanket of snow on the ground here in Paradise Valley, the mayflies continue to come off the water. Anglers are continuing to have fish eat mayfly patterns. Don’t let that make you think that they are only eating flies presented under a bobber! Fishing parachute patterns and other attractors have been bringing trout to the surface throughout the portions of the day when there are not a ton of […]

Yellowstone River Report September 14th, 2019

Yellowstone River Fishing Report September 14th, 2019     The Lamar River has settled back down and the mud should be out of the system. Although we never experienced a true mud plug, the river certainly colored up throughout the week. The river should stay clear through the weekend, but as always, be sure to watch the flows in the park in case there is a storm that passes through. We will update you all if anything happens in the next few days. As we mentioned last week, the hoppers have gone to bed. There may be a few lingering […]

Yellowstone River Fishing Report September 7th, 2019

Yellowstone River Fishing Report September 7th, 2019   We’ve got a dirty river! Steer clear of the upper and mid valley stretches today and the following days. We had solid rain throughout the day yesterday both here in Paradise Valley as well as in Yellowstone National Park. Fishing east of Livingston will certainly be the best bet if you are looking to get out there today. Although it is not dirty in Livingston yet, it will be soon. There was a whole lot of mud coming down river this morning but it seems to be less muddy now than it […]

Yellowstone River Fishing Report August 31, 2019

We apologize that we have not been up to date on our fishing reports of late! To be fair, the fishing really hasn’t changed much. Terrestrials are still out in high numbers. We are beginning to see fall like temperatures at night and in the morning which has slowed the activity to the second half of the day. Wait until you really hear that clicking and buzzing on the banks before you confidently throw those big bugs around. As the hoppers die down, the beetle and ant fishing should really pick up in the coming weeks. Trailing either behind a […]
